Access Control Systems — Design, Supply & Installation
Control Who Enters. Know When. Act Instantly.
Access control is the first line of physical security — determining who can enter a building, floor, server room, or restricted zone, and creating an auditable record of every access event. A well-designed system does more than lock doors: it integrates with CCTV to trigger recording on access events, with fire alarm panels to release magnetic locks on evacuation, and with HR systems to automatically revoke access when an employee leaves.
Locus designs and installs access control systems from single-door standalone readers to multi-site enterprise deployments managed from a central platform. We work with Matrix, HID Global, Honeywell, Suprema, ZKTeco, Hikvision HikCentral, and Prama — selecting the right platform for the project's scale, integration requirements, and budget.
Access Control Systems We Design & Install
Card-Based Access (RFID / Proximity / Smart Card)
Proximity and smart card readers are the most widely deployed access control technology. 125 kHz proximity cards offer basic access; 13.56 MHz MIFARE and DESFire cards support encrypted credentials and multi-application use (access + attendance + canteen). Long-range UHF readers extend to vehicle access and parking.
Biometric Readers (Fingerprint, Face, Iris)
Biometric readers eliminate credential sharing and buddy-punching. Fingerprint readers are cost-effective for most deployments; facial recognition readers provide touchless access and work with masks; iris readers deliver the highest accuracy for high-security zones. Multi-modal readers combine face + fingerprint for two-factor biometric authentication.
PIN / Keypad Entry
PIN keypads provide a low-cost access solution for internal doors, utility rooms, and secondary entrances. Combined card + PIN readers enforce two-factor authentication for sensitive areas — a credential alone is not sufficient without the PIN. Anti-tamper and backlit keypads are available for outdoor and low-light installations.
Video Door Phones & Intercoms
Video door phones allow reception or security to visually verify a visitor before granting access. IP-based systems integrate with the access control platform and CCTV, logging video snapshots of every entry event. SIP-based systems enable remote unlock from a smartphone — useful for unmanned reception areas and residential complexes.
Boom Barriers & Vehicle Access
Boom barriers control vehicle access at entry and exit points. Long-range UHF readers allow hands-free access for authorised vehicles without stopping. Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras identify vehicles by registration plate, enabling visitor vehicle management and blacklist enforcement without physical credentials.
Flap Barriers, Speed Gates & Turnstiles
Flap barriers and speed gates enforce one-person-per-credential access at high-traffic entry points, preventing tailgating. Full-height turnstiles provide maximum security for perimeter access in industrial and government facilities. All variants integrate with card, biometric, and facial recognition readers and connect to the central access control platform.
Electric Locks (Magnetic, Strike, Bolt)
Electromagnetic locks (maglocks) hold doors closed with up to 600 kg holding force and release instantly on power failure (fail-safe) — mandatory for fire exit doors. Electric strikes and electric bolts provide fail-secure operation for high-security doors. All locks integrate with the fire alarm panel to release automatically on evacuation.
Visitor Management Systems
Visitor management systems replace paper registers with a digital, auditable visitor log. Visitors pre-register online or check in at a kiosk; their ID is scanned and photographed; a temporary access badge is printed; and the host is notified by SMS or email. Integration with the access control platform grants temporary access credentials valid only for the visit duration.
Integration with Fire Alarm & CCTV
Access control systems deliver maximum value when integrated with fire alarm panels and CCTV. On fire alarm activation, magnetic locks release automatically to clear evacuation routes. CCTV cameras trigger recording on access events — capturing who entered and what happened next. Unified platforms like HikCentral and Matrix COSEC manage access, CCTV, and visitor management from a single interface.
Brands We Supply & Support
From Access Audit to Handover
Site Survey & Access Audit
We map every access point, identify high-security zones, assess existing infrastructure, and document the client's access policy — who needs access to what, when, and under what conditions.
System Design & Integration Plan
Door schedules, reader placement drawings, controller topology, cable routes, and a cause-and-effect matrix for fire alarm integration and CCTV triggers — all documented before procurement.
Supply of Listed Equipment
All equipment sourced from authorised distributors. BIS-compliant, IEC 60839-11-listed, or ONVIF Profile A certified as required by the authority having jurisdiction.
Installation & Commissioning
Structured cabling, controller installation, reader programming, credential enrolment, fire alarm integration testing, and full system acceptance test witnessed by the client.
Training, Handover & AMC
Administrator and operator training, as-built drawings, access policy documentation, and a structured AMC programme with quarterly health checks and annual full-system audit.
