Fire Detection & Alarm Systems — Design, Supply & Installation
Detect Earlier. Respond Faster. Evacuate Safely.
A fire alarm system is only as good as its ability to detect a real fire early, distinguish it from false alarms, and trigger the right response — suppression release, door holders, PA announcements, and evacuation — without hesitation. Locus designs systems that do exactly that, from a single-panel office to a multi-building campus with thousands of addressable devices.
We work with the full spectrum of brands — from Honeywell Notifier and Siemens Cerberus for PSU and government projects requiring premium international panels, to Ravel and Agni for cost-effective commercial installations — and we maintain every system we install under structured AMC programmes.
Detection Systems We Design & Install
Conventional Fire Alarm Panels
Zone-based panels divide a building into detection circuits; an alarm identifies the zone but not the individual device. Simple, reliable, and cost-effective for smaller buildings with straightforward layouts. Suitable for single-floor offices, small factories, and residential complexes.
Addressable Fire Alarm Panels
Every detector and call point has a unique address on the loop. The panel identifies the exact device in alarm — floor, zone, and device number — enabling faster evacuation guidance and maintenance. The standard choice for mid-to-large commercial and institutional buildings.
Analogue Addressable Systems
Analogue addressable detectors continuously report their sensor value to the panel, which applies intelligent algorithms to distinguish real fires from dust, steam, or cooking fumes. Dramatically reduces false alarms in complex environments. The preferred choice for critical infrastructure and high-occupancy buildings.
Smoke Detectors (Optical & Ionisation)
Optical (photoelectric) detectors respond best to slow, smouldering fires producing large smoke particles — ideal for bedrooms, corridors, and storage areas. Ionisation detectors respond faster to fast-flaming fires with small particles. Multi-sensor detectors combine both technologies for broader coverage.
Heat Detectors
Fixed-temperature detectors trigger at a set threshold; rate-of-rise detectors respond to rapid temperature increases. Used where smoke detectors would generate false alarms — kitchens, boiler rooms, dusty factories, and car parks. Linear heat detection cable covers long cable runs in tunnels and conveyor systems.
Flame Detectors
UV, IR, and multi-spectrum flame detectors respond to the optical signature of an open flame in milliseconds — far faster than smoke or heat detectors. Essential in high-hazard areas where flammable liquids or gases are present and a fire can escalate rapidly.
Beam Detectors
Projected beam detectors use a transmitter and reflector to create a detection path up to 100 metres long. A single beam device can protect a large atrium, warehouse, or aircraft hangar where installing individual point detectors on the ceiling is impractical or impossible.
Aspirating Smoke Detection (ASD / VESDA)
Aspirating smoke detectors actively draw air samples through a pipe network to a highly sensitive laser detection chamber. They can detect smoke at concentrations far below the threshold of conventional detectors — providing minutes or hours of warning before a fire develops. The gold standard for data centres and critical infrastructure.
Manual Call Points & Sounders
Break-glass manual call points at every exit route allow occupants to raise the alarm manually. Electronic sounders and visual strobes ensure the alarm is audible and visible throughout the building, including in noisy industrial environments and for hearing-impaired occupants.
Gas Detection Systems
Fixed gas detectors monitor for flammable gases (LPG, CNG, hydrogen), toxic gases (CO, H₂S, ammonia), and oxygen depletion. Integrated with the fire alarm panel or standalone controllers to trigger ventilation, shut-off valves, and evacuation alarms before concentrations reach dangerous levels.
AMC & Maintenance
Scheduled maintenance covering detector sensitivity testing and cleaning, panel battery replacement, sounder and strobe testing, loop integrity checks, and false alarm analysis. We maintain systems supplied by us and third-party-installed systems, and provide CFO compliance documentation.
