Why Emergency Lighting Matters
When mains power fails during a fire or emergency, occupants must be able to evacuate quickly and safely. Emergency lighting is not optional — it is a statutory requirement under the National Building Code of India (NBC 2016 Part 8) for all commercial, industrial, and public buildings.
Locus Fire & Security designs, supplies, installs, and maintains complete emergency lighting systems — from individual self-contained luminaires to large central battery installations serving hundreds of fittings across multi-storey complexes.
What We Supply & Install
Maintained Emergency Luminaires
Remain illuminated at all times and automatically switch to battery backup during mains failure. Required in cinemas, theatres, hospitals, and all public assembly areas where continuous illumination is mandatory.
Non-Maintained Emergency Luminaires
Activate only on mains failure, remaining off during normal operation. The standard solution for most commercial and industrial buildings where continuous illumination is not required by regulation.
Central Battery Systems
A single centralised battery bank powers all emergency luminaires in the building. Simplifies testing, maintenance, and compliance reporting compared to managing hundreds of individual self-contained units.
Exit & Escape Route Signage
Clearly marked escape routes with directional signage compliant with NBC and IS standards. Photoluminescent versions require no power source and remain visible for hours after illumination is removed.
High-Risk Task Area Lighting
Dedicated emergency lighting for areas where sudden darkness creates a specific hazard — machinery rooms, electrical switchgear, plant rooms, and process areas. Provides sufficient illumination to safely shut down operations.
Emergency Lighting AMC
Scheduled maintenance covering lamp and battery replacement, self-test log review, full 3-hour discharge testing, and compliance certification. Keeps your system audit-ready at all times.
From Survey to Certification
Site Survey & Lux Calculation
We assess escape routes, floor areas, and risk zones to calculate the minimum illuminance levels required under NBC and IS 1944.
System Design & Specification
Selection of luminaire type (maintained/non-maintained/central battery), battery duration, and signage placement — documented in a full design drawing set.
Supply & Installation
Supply of BIS-approved luminaires and signage, installed by our certified technicians with minimal disruption to building operations.
Commissioning & Testing
Full 3-hour discharge test, self-test verification, and lux level measurement at all escape route points. Compliance certificate issued on completion.
AMC & Ongoing Compliance
Quarterly maintenance visits, annual full-duration testing, and compliance documentation to keep your system audit-ready year-round.
Standards We Design To
